Director's Statement

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

My personal love life inspired me to write this story.
I wanted to tell a story from the most sincere point of view, allowing the audience to generate thoughts about what love means in the society that we live in.

There is a thin line between making and breaking.
The title, “BREAK” came to my mind.
Break stands for everyone’s breaking point in their life.
I wanted to explore the darker side of love in the 20th century when man and woman deal with the temptations around the social world where sex and violence were suppressed.

The films deals with bleakness and betrayal.
It is “Paris Texas” meets “Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind”.
A war between the protagonist’s inner and outer world.

I deconstructed the story that will lead the audience into discovery of looking at the protagonist’s plight in the other way. Misleading and revealing to the audience that life is not all about one man.

I knew that by truly living it is not enough to tell a story that involves love.
I found myself asking questions while conducting research for the film.
Does fairy tales exist?
All good things must come to an end.
Things change as the world moves along with time.
Most people use the breakup as an excuse for themselves to tear away from the reality.
A leopard can’t change its spots.
We will never be content, and our beliefs will always be shaken by temptation.
The month of February was named after the Roman festival of purification.
We celebrate Valentine’s day to express our love and affection for our loved ones.
I question how love can ever truly be pure in this world and society we live in.
Even the water we drink isn’t pure.
As Benjamin Franklin said:
“In wine there is wisdom, In beer there is freedom, In water there is bacteria.”
